This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. By using
MealPrep Planner, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Summary: We collect only what is necessary to deliver the app's features. We do not
sell your personal data. Your meal plans, recipes, and kitchen inventory remain yours.

We do not collect precise GPS location data.
We do not access your microphone or audio.
We do not collect payment or financial information.
We do not track you across third-party apps or websites.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide core features – meal planning calendar, kitchen inventory tracking, recipe management, shopping list generation, and nutrition tracking.
Power AI suggestions – generate personalized recipe recommendations based on your kitchen inventory. This processing happens on-device or via our secure API with your data anonymized before transmission.
Sync across devices – store your data securely in the cloud so you can access it on multiple devices (only if you opt in).
Send notifications – expiry date alerts, meal plan reminders, and shopping list reminders (only if you grant notification permission).
Improve the app – analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to fix bugs and develop new features.
Respond to support requests – use your contact email to reply to questions and feedback.
4. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in these limited circumstances:
Service providers: Trusted third-party vendors that help us operate the app (e.g., cloud hosting, crash analytics). They are contractually required to keep your data confidential and use it only for the services they provide to us.
Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored locally on your device by default. If you enable cloud sync,
your data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest on our servers.
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption, access controls, and regular
security reviews. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Data Retention: We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed
to provide services. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app's
Settings → Account → Delete Account.
6. Your Rights & Choices
Permissions you control
Camera & Photo Library – required for barcode scanning and recipe image upload. Revoke anytime in your device Settings.
Calendar – required for meal plan sync with your calendar. Revoke anytime in your device Settings.
Notifications – used for expiry alerts and meal reminders. Revoke anytime in your device Settings or in-app Settings.
Your data rights
Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Update inaccurate or incomplete data directly in the app or by contacting us.
Deletion: Delete your account and all data via Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing us.
Portability: Export your meal plans, recipes, and inventory data from within the app.
Opt-out of analytics: Disable anonymized usage analytics in Settings → Privacy.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you may have additional rights under the
GDPR. If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA. Contact us to exercise
any of these rights.
7. Children's Privacy
MealPrep Planner is rated 4+ (iOS) and Everyone (Android). The app
does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable
parental consent.
Family features (family profiles) do not require children to create their own accounts or submit
personal information — this is managed by the primary account holder (adult).
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, please contact
us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
8. Third-Party Services
MealPrep Planner may integrate with or use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
Barcode Lookup APIs – used to retrieve product information when you scan a barcode. Only the barcode number is sent; no personal data is transmitted.
AI Recipe Suggestion Service – ingredient data is sent in anonymized form to generate suggestions. No personally identifiable information is included.
Crash Reporting (e.g., Sentry or equivalent) – anonymized crash logs to help us fix bugs. No meal or personal data is included in crash reports.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage you to review their policies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify
you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, via an in-app
notification or email.
Your continued use of MealPrep Planner after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of
the revised policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
